While configuring my Wireless LAN router the other day I came across an idea for a drinking game for computer geeks. (I didn’t try it yet.)
How it works
OpenWRT is an open source operating system/firmware for wireless LAN routers and other embedded devices. Everyone who logs in to one of these via telnet or SSH gets to see a nice welcome screen like this one:
_______ ________ __ | |.-----.-----.-----.| | | |.----.| |_ | - || _ | -__| || | | || _|| _| |_______|| __|_____|__|__||________||__| |____| |__| W I R E L E S S F R E E D O M WHITE RUSSIAN (RC4) ------------------------------- * 2 oz Vodka Mix the Vodka and Kahlua together * 1 oz Kahlua over ice, then float the cream or * 1/2oz cream milk on the top. ---------------------------------------------------
The rules are simple: Every participant gets a router that is compatible with OpenWRT. Participants must flash the router with the OpenWRT firmware (the version is up to them) and configure the router for a certain type of network (e.g., the funkfeuer network). Every time a participant gets to see one of the welcome screens, he/she must drink the corresponding shot. The first person to properly configure their router wins.
